In 2021, we undertook our first sound exploration as part of the LAND.SCHAFFT.SOUND. project.
On a weekend in October, the area around the lake Bertzdorf near Görlitz was explored on and auditory level. Recordings were collected from this former surface mining site in order to focus on the renaturation of the once desolate scenery dominated by dredging noise. Not far from the lake is the coal-fired power plant and the active open-cast mine Turów in Bogatynia. Here, too, recordings were made to highlight any contrasts and to discover unexpected similarities.
